Explore Beaufort
239,000 Acres of Tidal Waterways to Explore!
Our “playground” is all 239,000 acres of the saltwater estuaries, rivers, and marshes of Beaufort Country. From historic rice plantations of the A.C.E. Basin to uninhabited barrier islands with abundant shells to a massive saltwater estuary that reaches 30 miles inland only to be fed by a few small creeks. Woven into the scenic landscape of all of this is abundant wildlife, birds, dolphins, and colorful history. We would love to be your connection to all of the backwater places we love.
Some examples of places you could adventure:
Upper ACE Basin Rice Plantations - This remote saltwater and brackish water area was the sight of historic rice agriculture, civil war skirmishes, and late 1800’s phosphate mining. This area is a blend of natural beauty and human influence.
Upper Port Royal Sound - Rich with civil war history this area is largely wild and definitely worth a visit.
Daufuskie Island - This unique, inhabited island has no bridge access and attracts an eclectic crowd.
Barrier Islands - Explore other remote beaches and small wild barrier islands.
These trips can also be customized for birding, photography, history, sharks tooth hunting, etc.
To plan one of these trips please call or send us an email. Due to the more remote location of most of these types of trips we typically use our six passenger 22 foot deck boat Little Beaufort and meet at public boat landings. Depending on the trip we can accommodate larger groups of up to 14 people.
